Insolito
"Insolito" means unusual, uncommon, extraordinary
Mr. Francisco de la Casa, born on 3 December 1862, continued the family tradition to create exceptional wines and spirits.
During a business trip to the south of Spain, one of his Customers did not have enough money to pay his debts to Mr Francisco, so they agreed the sale of an old cellar for Mr. Francisco to be paid from the sale of the wines and spirits it contained.
While Mr. Francisco sold all the wines, he discovered different barrels of old brandy, which initially were destined for a Customer in the Netherlands who never bought them.
The quality of the barrels and brandies, varied, some already over 100 years old, but most 50 to 70 years old. He chose the best and created the De La Casa family Collection, a family tradition, which was further aged in different sherry casks by his son Mr. Apolinar de la Casa, and after he passed away, by his grandson Mr. Alfredo de la Casa who will be 90 years old in May 2025, and then by Mr. Alfredo de la Casa’s son, also named Mr. Alfredo de la Casa after his father, who runs the Family cellar from
England.
Only 24 bottles of Insolito have been made.
In collaboration with a very well known artist, a friend of the family, the de la Casa family commissioned a special artwork to represent their passion for quality wine.
A piece of this artwork goes with each bottle, making each bottle unique.
Family members are the only ones who have currently seen the whole artwork.
Only 24 bottles of Insolito have been made.
The family tradition charges the first son of the first son to be in charge of the family’s collections: Francisco, Apolinar, Alfredo Sr., Alfredo Jr. and then his son Louis when he is old enough.
