Gran Reserva de la Familia 1955

All bottles look similar, but not all are the same. Likewise, not all wines are spirits taste the same…

Mr. Francisco de la Casa, born on 3 December 1862, continued the family tradition to create exceptional wines and spirits.

During a business trip to the south of Spain, one of his Customers did not have enough money to pay his debts to Mr Francisco, so they agreed the sale of an old cellar for Mr. Francisco to be paid from the sale of the wines and spirits it contained.

While Mr. Francisco sold many of the wines, he discovered different barrels of old brandy, which initially were destined for a Customer in the Netherlands who never bought them.

The quality of the barrels and brandies, varied, some already over 100 years old, but most 50 to 70 years old. He chose the best and created the De La Casa family Collection, a family tradition, which was further aged in different sherry casks by his son Mr. Apolinar de la Casa, and after he passed away, by his grandson Mr. Alfredo de la Casa who will be 90 years old in May 2025 and hen by his grandson, also named Alfredo de la Casa.

Mr. Francisco also kept some single vintage barrels of aged sherry wines, extremely rare.

Sought after by collectors due to is exceptional quality, a very exclusive wine, as only 60 bottles exist of the special Family Reserve.

This is a very rare bottle, one of only 60 that were created, for the family’s exclusive use, by the family’s wine maker who blended very rare 1905 wines, the best, with 1955 special wines (only 250 numbered bottles produced) and re-bottled them in the original 1955 bottles for further ageing.

A very old wine of unusual finesse for its old age. It has notes of noble woods, a touch of varnish, and is perfumed and expressive, with a spirity touch. It's full-bodied and concentrated but remains very balanced.

The finish is very long, clean and precise. Delicious!
